Circuit bending as a sonic art form has been around for quite a few years now and was pioneered by a guy called Reed Ghazala (http://www.anti-theory.com).
Circuit bending involves getting old children toys and electronic
devices that make sound and rewiring the insides so they make noises
that were not intended by the original manufacturers.
This article will show you how to get into circuit bending and discuss what tools you need and interesting techniques you can use on the sounds afterwards.
I was introduced to circuit bending a few years ago by a friend and I was instantly amazed by the possibilities. At the time I did not think it was something that I would be able to do as I had no electronics experience at all. But this really does not matter.
