I have just been shown a link to an awesome and FREE midi Arpeggiator plug-in called Kirnu.
On the Kirnu site there are a set of demonstration videos which show the plug-in off quite nicely.
So my question to you is:
- Do you think arpeggiators are cheating?
- If so, why?

Are arpeggiators cheating...good question, the answer would be yes and no :) So, yes, they allow a simple combination of notes to be converted into an effortless melodic run, with variation, and therefore they're kind of a cheat...I don't need sufficient proficiency to be able to perform the same, and I don't need to spend hours creating the runs by hand using a midi editor. However I'd argue that they also allow the creative process to progress unhindered, so rather than spending hours creating arpeggio's by hand, I can use an arp and focus on creating the melody I'm after, so yes its a cheat, but heck...why the hell not ! I know for a fact that I'll be downloading this and spending many a happy time with it, and I couldn't care less if someone thinks I'm cheating :)
